Trench boxes are versatile, cost-effective and provide an excellent way of protecting workers from excavation wall collapse while carrying out groundworks. Backhoe Trench Box

The Backhoe Trench Box is a lightweight yet robust solution for small trenching applications. With a load capacity of 20 kN/m2, it can be used to depths of 4 metres in most soil types. It's ideal for use on building sites and construction projects where small excavator handling is essential. Developed to meet the needs of the contractor when using smaller 180 degree backhoe rubber tyred excavators, this box is supremely light yet provides solid support.

Manhole Box

Manhole boxes are similar to trench boxes in their basic function, but they incorporate integral end return panels for extra ground support when placing pre-cast manhole rings, as an alternative to sheets and frames. There are five available sizes catering to common manhole ring sizes. They can be quickly assembled and installed without an operator needing to enter the unsupported excavation, supporting trenches up to 5.5m using the base module and various struts. Ideal for most ground conditions.

The Backhoe Manhole Box is lightweight and ideal for installing pre-cast manhole rings and trench runs, without the need to alter the trench width. It has a typical base weight of 912kg, and is suitable for excavations up to 4.0m deep. It has a simple pinned strut arrangement, with a range of strut lengths available for non-square configurations and a 1.2m clearance under the bottom strut. End closure panels are available to support the open ends of the box, and handrails can be added for extra safety.

The Premier Trench Box provides a dependable, robust solution to deep pipe laying activities, designed with high rigidity, making it ideal for supporting deep trenches. With the ability to achieve trench depths up to 6.6m using a base and two top extension units, it offers maximum versatility. The Premier Trench Box has a large 2.45m clearance under the lower struts and internal trench widths ranging from 0.8m to 4.7m. Handrails and ladder-safe panels are available for added protection.

The Rolling Strut Trench Box differs from a conventional trench box as the rolling struts enable both plates to move independently of each other during installation and removal. Its unique design allows for parallel plate movement during installation and removal, minimizing potential soil movements. This makes it a more stable and safe option for excavation work. The construction of the Rolling Strut Trench Box enables greater under strut clearances of up to 3.1m in comparison to conventional trench boxes.

Super Drag Boxes

Super Drag Boxes

Drag boxes provide local support to trenches as moveable ‘shields’ generally in stable or self-supporting ground conditions. They are not intended for full panel height support of trench walls, as in the case of a traditional trench box, however correct use will considerably enhance productivity and safety. It must be noted that drag boxes are very heavy pieces of equipment and certain Drag Box models permit the use of top boxes and/or rear extensions so will require large excavators to handle them safely.

Hi-Clear Manhole Box

Hi-Clear Manhole Box

Hi-Clear Manhole box posts allow the connection of a base unit to a top unit, providing a 4m high box with only two struts as opposed to three. The lower strut is positioned higher in the assembly as to provide the added benefit of greater under-strut clearance. This improves height-to-width ratio, a crucial requirement when large diameter pipes and chambers need to be installed. The Hi-Clearance system uses a unique fixed length strutting system that is available in three different lengths.
